At the ongoing monitoring mission of the Rural Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion in Nigeria (RUSHPIN) programme in Calabar, Mr Patrick Emori, Programme Manager, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWATSSA), Cross River State, expressed optimism that the state would soon be open-defecation free (ODF). While speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), he said with the intervention of the Community-led Total Sanitation (CLTS) Programme of the Global Sanitation Fund (GSF) in most of its communities, the state would attain the feat.
Last year CLTS Foundation Global on the request of Concern Universal, the executing agency of GSF agreed to provide quality inputs and process support to the RUSHPIN programme. As a part of this collaboration, a training of trainer’s workshop was held in Ogoja from 12th to 17th June 2014 with the participation of 121 participants.
